Every year, for one week, students abandon their books to do community service and ministry Corne Blaauw writes...
"This year our week was spent locally with Pastor Willem Conradie who is our lecturer and also the Minister of the Kalk Bay Community church. What did we do? We hiked with the village children and did some biblical skits. We did Bible studies with people in the Community helping with the transport. We enjoyed visiting homes, engaging in evangelism at the harbour and helping in a soup kitchen. We even picked up trash!
The week ended at Pastor Bonani’s church in Barcelona (no, not the Spanish one) helping him with a ministry to many orphaned children in his area. It was, for many of us, the highlight of the week as we watched this man’s perseverance in serving others.
As we return to college life we gratefully thank God for His faithfulness in binding our diverse group together in love. We thank him for His grace and for the timely reminder that books and academia are not merely ends in themselves but rather are a help to us in proclaiming the Gospel."
Corne Blaauw is in his 3rd year; he is co-founder and editor of "Veritas" a BISA student magazine. His special interest is in historical and systematic theology
