Greetings from the Bible Institute at the beginning of another academic year. It is always an exciting time in the life of the college as we welcome our new students onto campus. They come from as far afield as South America, North America, Europe, Asia, and, of course, Africa, preserving the international and multi-cultural character of our student body. Their presence on campus enriches the learning experience of all our students.
Mrs. Gail Edwards retired from BI after 21 years of service in our administration, and Rev. Greg Phillips resigned after serving for several years as our Academic Dean. We thank the Lord for their dedicated service to BI and pray God's richest blessing on them. Dr. Raymond Potgieter is on sabbatical this year. I have been appointed Acting Principal for 2011.
The Institute, as many of you will know, is located in a magnificent setting, and it is sometimes easy to forget that we are engaged in spiritual warfare.
The Apostle Paul, however, reminds us that spiritual warfare is a reality for all believers. In this context, he exhorts us to 'put on the full armour of God' so that we can 'stand' in the battle (Eph.6:11).
He concludes his discussion of the 'armour' with an emphasis on prayer: '…be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints' (Eph.6:18). We really covet your prayers this year so that we do not stumble and fall in the battle. Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel!
