This programme is offered and taught in conjunction with George Whitefield College. Here is a basic overview of the programme for 2010.
1. Students with a minimum course average of 65% at the third level (usually your third year) of their BTh or LTh may apply for entrance into the Honours degree programme. Your degree transcript must accompany your application. If you graduated from BI more than a year ago, we will need a letter of reference from your pastor.
2. The Honours degree programme at the Bible Institute (BISA) is recognised by North-West University in Potchefstroom (NWU). While all the instruction will take place locally, all students register with NWU which will confer the BA Honours (Theology) degree on those who successfully complete all the course requirements.
3. The BISA Honours degree is offered in partnership with George Whitefield College (GWC) in Muizenberg nearby. BISA students are therefore required to do a selection of courses at both the BISA and GWC campuses.
4. For the attainment of the Honours’ degree, seven course-modules plus a mini-dissertation must be completed successfully. The programme may be completed in one year of full-time study or on a part-time basis over a two-year period. Students must register for the following modules:
First Semester (February - June): | Campus | Lecturer/Supervisor |
| i. Academic Research (Summer School) | GWC | Dr. Ben Dean |
| ii. Dogmatics | BISA | Dr. Raymond Potgieter |
| iii. Pastoral Care & Counselling (modular 12-16 April) | BISA | Dr. Vhumani Magezi |
| iv. Church History | GWC | Dr. John Newby |

Additional course-module details may be obtained from the lecturer concerned.
5. Classes generally meet for double lectures on Tuesdays & Thursdays at BISA and Mondays and Wednesdays at GWC. Classes are structured on a seminar-type format. The academic year will commence with a compulsory Summer School of Biblical Research at GWC from 25th January 2010.
The cost of the programme in 2010 is R10 692,00 for full-tiome students. This excludes the BISA administration costs (R1 200.00) and NWU registration fees (R950 [+ R200 for applicants other than 2008 BI graduates]). The cost per course-module is R1969.00 for part-time students. This includes all administrative costs.
